Welcome to my blog and very first entry!
I would like to introduce myself and explain why it is I’ve started writing this blog and what you can hope to glean from it.
I am a former producer turned jewelry and fashion photographer who works with both established jewelry companies and small startups. I provide services that include everything from product photography to campaign and editorial shoots. I often find myself helping younger designers discover their voice and brand identity through images.
Though it goes beyond the typical photographer’s job description, I also find myself giving advice to fledgling designers who need a guiding hand in the early phases of building their brand.
The jewelry industry is complicated and overwhelming in many ways, and not an easy business to get into, especially when one is not familiar with all the hurdles and difficulties that await most newcomers.
I have had the privilege of working closely with some incredible companies and have learned quite a bit about the ins and outs of this industry. From design to production and marketing, I've had the chance to dip my toe in all the facets of this business. I thought it would be useful to create a resource that fledgling designers can turn to for a bit of advice — not just from myself, but also from fellow designers, consultants and PR people working in the industry.
In the coming months, I will be writing posts about photography and brand building, but I will also be interviewing established designers about their brands and how they've come to establish a voice all their own in their designs and images. I will be talking with industry consultants about what young designers can expect to encounter in early stages of their businesses, and I'll be talking with PR people about branding, visual storytelling and how to reach a target customer.
I am excited about the posts coming in the near future and will be announcing them on Instagram.
In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to me here to inquire about my services or to send me your thoughts on topics you would like to see discussed in this blog and other potential collaborations.
